Sunset Cosmetic Surgery has been honored with a
DIAMOND LEVEL Status for BOTOX® Cosmetic and Facial Fillers by Allergan, recognizing that Sunset among the TOP 1% of BOTOX® providers in the nation. In fact, Dr. Yamini is one of a select group of surgeons who is invited regularly by Allergan to give lectures as an educator for Botox and Juvederm.
Most patients are familiar with BOTOX® and its uses in
relaxing frown lines and crow's feet non-surgically, in a matter of minutes.
Los Angeles BOTOX treatment is an
outpatient procedure and side effects are normally minimal.
Occasionally we
run specials on injectables and send them out to our e-newsletter
subscribers. Please note that while some offices require you to
purchase it separately, Sunset provides numbing cream and/or
numbing injections FREE OF CHARGE for all injectable treatments.
Often described as the "fountain of youth," our Los Angeles
BOTOX treatment is the brand name for Botulinum Toxin Type
A. BOTOX® was developed by dermatologists in 1980 to treat muscle
disorders such as uncontrolled blinking and was later put to cosmetic
uses for the first time in 1987. Currently, our Los Angeles BOTOX®
treatment is being used primarily to treat frown lines, crow's feet
and other wrinkles and fine lines that tend to accumulate over time
and are the result of years of squinting and frowning. Our Los Angeles
BOTOX® works on these wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the underlying
muscles and results are seen just a few days following the Beverly
Hills botox procedure.
BOTOX can also be very beneficial to people with excessive sweating (underarms, palms).
On the hands, this condition is called hyperhidrosis, can be very bothersome
for people, especially in professions where they are regularly required
to shake hands. The treatment is simple and involves tiny injections
of Botox on the palms. Results last for months at a time, and patients
have reported a very high satisfaction rate. Special pricing for
this area applies, so please ask when you call for your appointment.
Los Angeles Botox Recovery Time:
Our Los Angeles BOTOX injections
and other fillers are done on an out patient basis with numbing
cream as needed. Many patients come in on their lunch hour as these
procedures only take 15-20 minutes (add 20-30 extra if you want
numbing cream since it takes about that long to work). After your
Los Angeles Botox treatment, you might have some redness or swelling.
This will normally last for only a few hours-- a day or two at most,
although everyone is different. Sun exposure should be avoided until
any redness or swelling disappears.
Is BOTOX safe?
Absolutely! Botox has been used for nearly 23 years on millions of patients in over 70 countries. It is one of the safest, most researched and carefully monitored medications used worldwide. It is actually safer than many common medications such as aspirin, insulin, or Tylenol used by millions of people daily. Botox is only made by one manufacturer, Allergan Corporation, headquartered right here in Irvine, California. We only use the authentic product which is very precisely produced in the laboratory.
Where does your Los Angeles Botox come from?
Like many medications, botox is created by nature, not invented by man. Specifically, it is derived by a microorganism called clostridium botulinum, much like penicillin was discovered through a mold microorganism called penicillium notatum.
What does Botox do?
Botox is a protein that blocks the microscopic signals from nerves to small muscles, allowing the muscle to relax and reduce spasm or over-activity. Less hyperactivity of the muscle then reduces the lines and wrinkles on the surface of the skin. Also, by reducing the negative movements of facial muscles, botox can enhance the positive expressions in our face. Better facial expressions will make you look less tired, stressed, and angry. You will appear more relaxed, well-rested and energized.
Where do you inject Botox? Most cosmetic uses of botox are to minimize the lines and wrinkles in our forehead, the frown lines between the eyebrow, and the “crows feet” lines around the eyes.
Is Botox used for non-cosmetic reasons as well? YES. In fact, the vast majority of botox is used for treating serious medical conditions such as:
Hyperhydrosis [excessive sweating in arm pits or hands]
Migraine and tension headaches
Blepharospasm [eyelid spasm]
Strabismus [crossed eye problems]
Bladder incontinence
Back pain and spasm
Cervical dystonia [neck spasms]
Spacticity after strokes
Equinus foot deformity in cerebral palsy children
Will I look frozen?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! There is NO reason to look frozen or unnatural with properly injected botox. Our goal is to always create a natural and refreshed look, with normal facial movement and expression.
How often do I need Botox?
Like all medications, the duration of the effects depends on the dosage, the area of face injected, and each individual’s metabolism. With proper dosage and injection technique, the cosmetic results should last 3 to 6 months.
Are there any side effects from having Botox?
Botox is extremely safe with very few, if any side effects. There are no known diseases or medical conditions caused by Botox. There are no permanent changes to your body with properly used botox. In our expert hands, you have about a 1-2% chance of a small bruise at the injection site on the face. There is a less than 1% chance of very minor and temporary eyelid drooping or heaviness. In very rare cases, some experience temporary and mild flu-like symptoms or mild headaches that resolve by themselves.
I've heard some horror stories about Botox, are they true?
There was an unethical doctor a few years back who tried to save money using a fake imitation botox which lead to headline news and unfortunate consequences. Here at Sunset, we ONLY use real, certified botox. To ease your mind, we are happy to show you the vial, which always has an Allergan hologram on it that looks like the photo below. That way, you can ensure you are getting real botox.
What are the typical injection sites for Botox on the face?
