Our Los Angeles blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery
as it is commonly called, is a procedure performed by our Los Angeles
plastic surgeons to remove fat and excess skin from the upper and
lower eyelids. Our Los Angeles blepharoplasty procedure can correct
drooping upper lids and puffy bags below the eyes which help make
patients look younger and less tired. The Los Angeles blepharoplasty
surgery will not remove crow's feet or eliminate dark circles under
the eyes, nor will it lift sagging eyebrows (a brow
lift will help with sagging eyebrows). This procedure can be done in an operating room with general anesthesia, or, in cases where only the upper lids are being done, may be done in-office using local anesthetic.
Typical Recovery Time for Blepharoplasty: After our Los
Angeles blepharoplasty surgery, your Los Angeles plastic surgeon
will instruct you to keep your head elevated for several days, and
to use cool compresses to reduce swelling and bruising. Bruising
varies from person to person with this
procedure: it reaches its peak during the first week, and generally
lasts anywhere from 2-3 weeks. Your stitches will usually be removed
2-7 days after surgery. Once they're removed, the swelling and discoloration
around your eyes will gradually subside. Most patients need to avoid
contact lenses for about 2 weeks. While everyone is different, most people feel ready
to go out in public (and back to work) in about 7- 10 days after
their blepharoplasty procedure.
