Los Angeles Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Enhancement)

<<back to before & after main menu

Our Los Angeles blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery as it is commonly called, is a procedure performed by our Los Angeles plastic surgeons to remove fat and excess skin from the upper and lower eyelids. Our Los Angeles blepharoplasty procedure can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below the eyes which help make patients look younger and less tired. The Los Angeles blepharoplasty surgery will not remove crow's feet or eliminate dark circles under the eyes, nor will it lift sagging eyebrows (a brow lift will help with sagging eyebrows).

Typical Recovery Time for Blepharoplasty: After our Los Angeles blepharoplasty surgery, your Los Angeles plastic surgeon will instruct you to keep your head elevated for several days, and to use cool compresses to reduce swelling and bruising. Bruising varies from person to person with the Los Angeles blepharoplasty procedure: it reaches its peak during the first week, and generally lasts anywhere from 2-3 weeks. Your stitches will usually be removed 2-7 days after surgery. Once they're removed, the swelling and discoloration around your eyes will gradually subside. Most patients need to avoid contact lenses for about 2 weeks, and even then they may feel uncomfortable for a while. While everyone is different, most people feel ready to go out in public (and back to work) in about 7- 10 days after Sunset’s Los Angeles blepharoplasty procedure. By then, depending on your rate of healing and your Los Angeles plastic surgeon’s instructions, you'll probably be able to wear makeup to hide the minor bruising that remains.

Above: 38-year old Los Angeles blepharoplasty patient with prominent bags under her eyes. A transconjunctival lower eyelid blepharoplsty (incision on the inside of the eyelid) was done to remove the bags and smooth out the area. Some subtle fat grafting was also done under the eyes and to the cheek area.

Above 2 Sets: Patient had the Los Angeles blepharoplasty procedure performed to her upper lids to remove excess skin, and had facial fat grafting into cheeks and tear trough areas. Overall, she appears less tired and more youthful.

Above Set: Patient had a facelift, forhead lift, upper and lower blepharoplasty, and facial fat grafting.

Los Angeles blepharoplasty

Above (2 sets): This is a young woman with a genetic predisposition to protruding fat under the eyes. She had the Los Angeles blepharoplasty procedure performed on her lower eyelids, from the inside of the lids, to remove the protruding fat and improve the skin contours. She has no scars on the outside of her eyelids.

This patient had our Los Angeles blepharoplasty procedure performed on both upper ands lower lids, as well as fat grafting to the cheek and tear trough area, which gave her a much younger, less tired, and more refreshed look. Her skin complexion in the cheek area is also improved.

Above set: Forehead lift, upper and lower blepharoplasty, facial fat grafting. Patient appears more youthful, alert, and rested.
