The Sunset Difference: Eyelid Surgery

A blepharoplasty, better known as eyelid surgery, is a procedure of choice to remove fat and excess skin from the upper and lower eyelids. This procedure can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below the eyes, which allows our patients choosing eyelid surgery to look more alert, more youthful, and less tired.

Since so much focus is put on the eyes, the double-board-certified Dr. Steve Svehlak and Dr. Dan Yamini take particular care in performing eyelid surgery that minimizes any visible scarring or marks. Blepharoplasty is a regular procedure at Sunset Cosmetic Surgery, where patients know they will be getting the full benefit of their surgeon’s experience and talent.

Dr. Steve Svehlak and Dr. Dan Yamini can perform just the upper lid, just the lower lid, or double eyelid surgery, depending on the patient’s needs.

Upper blepharoplasty, submental liposuction, and a single low-power pass of portrait plasma to the lower eyelids. Patient also had one syringe of Juvederm XC for subtle enhancement in the upper lip, nasolabial folds and pre-jowl area (between corner of lips and chin).

This is a 40 y.o. female from Los Angeles who was looking tired and older around her eyes.  She sought Dr. Svehlak in consultation.

Dr. Svehlak performed quad eyelid surgery with a transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty, upper blepharoplasty, and facial fat grafting. Her face looked softer, more youthful, and more rested. She was very happy with the results.

This is a 38 y.o. female from Covina, CA, who consulted with Dr. Svehlak to discuss and correct the tired look in her face and under her eyes.

Dr. Svehlak performed a transconjunctival lower blepahroplasty with removal of fat from the lower eyelid pockets. In addition, he performed autologus fat transfer to the cheeks and tear troughs to further improve the contours of her eyelid cheek junction. She was very happy with her results. She looks rested, refreshed, and more youthful.

    After eyelid surgery, Los Angeles patients are instructed to keep their head elevated for several days. A cool compress can help reduce swelling and bruising. Bruising varies from person to person, and it normally reaches its peak during the first week. While everyone is different, most patients feel comfortable stepping out in public after the first week of recovery, though minor residual puffiness or bruising may still be present. Stitches are usually removed two to seven days after surgery. Once they’re removed, the swelling and discoloration around the eyes will gradually subside.
