Restore Volume Loss and Create a Natural Lift to the Face

The injectable Juvéderm Voluma® at Sunset Cosmetic Surgery is an ideal choice for patients who have seen their face change shape over the years, as loss of volume has caused their cheeks to flatten and sag. How Juvéderm Voluma® Works

The active ingredient in Juvéderm Voluma®, hyaluronic acid, is found in abundance in young skin, where it holds onto moisture and provides both elasticity and volume with help from two other elements: collagen and elastin. Unfortunately, all of these break down over time and are replenished less and less as the years go by.

By the time you are in your 20s and 30s, you may begin to notice the effects of hyaluronic loss: wrinkles and diminished volume.

Juvéderm Voluma® works by standing in for the hyaluronic acid your body once made and held on its own. It is injected directly into the area to be treated, where it physically adds volume.

This is a safe, FDA–approved injectable that is gradually processed by the body over the course of many months. In fact, under ideal circumstances, results can last for up to two years.

The Juvéderm Voluma® Treatment Session

The doctors provide Juvéderm Voluma® injections in their office, where a typical session lasts 15 to 20 minutes. Patients may notice some injection–related swelling, redness, or discomfort in the hours or days after their treatment, but these side effects are common and fade away on their own. Results are immediately apparent, but will “settle” in the following days.

Options Beyond Juvéderm Voluma®

Interested in a longer–lasting solution? Patients who want more permanent results can consider a facelift, which surgically addresses drooping skin on the lower half of the face. A neck lift also deals with loose tissues, which may alternately be tightened by laser energy.

For further contouring, KYBELLA® is an injectable that reduces fullness, otherwise known as a double chin.

    RELATED PROCEDURES

    1. Avoid manipulation or pressure over the treated area such as massage, tight hats or goggles for the first 3-5 days.

    2. No massage or facial for 5 days.

    3. If your eyebrows were injected, do not wax or tweeze your eyebrows for 3-5 days.

    4. The day of your injection it is very important to avoid doing anything that can move the medication within the skin. Avoid any pressure on the injected area at all for the first 4 hours.

    5. Some studies show that if you move your treated muscles frequently during the first 4 hours it may take effect a day earlier. This is optional.

    6. No vigorous exercise (no hot and sweaty face) for 24 hours.

    7. Results occur gradually over 2-14 days.

    8. Facial therapy involving micro-currents should be avoided for 2 weeks.

    9. If at 2 weeks after this date you find any asymmetry or feel you may need an adjustment, please call the office to schedule a touch up.
